I have a bunch of stray icons that I guess I forgot to add to this batch, like those Darkness Falls icons I talk about here. And then I have some Kitsunegari icons, and just like, a whole bunch that I guess I'll be saving for the next batch. If you want to see them, you can just check out my photobucket account. Otherwise, just wait for the next batch, which I think will be soon, cuz I'm already making more icons. *giggles*
24 hours of iconing leaves me with a sad total of 39 icons. I don't get it. I have been spending about a half hour on almost every icon, where I used to spend maybe five minutes on one. That should technically be a good thing, ensuring that the quality is better in each individual icon, but I think I'm getting worse as time goes on. *sighs* Whatever.
Some tidbits about this batch:
I covered quite a few episodes - The Field Where I Died, Pusher, Sein Und Zeit, Darkness Falls, Home, Kitsunegari, Brand X, as well as a few photoshoots/actor material. The problem is, I cheated. For Sein Und Zeit I believe I have two icons total. *giggles* I'm so bad that way. But I need to have a really unique and prettiful icon to work with otherwise I just can't work the magic. I'm getting really tired of dark, grungy scenes, so I tried to select some bright beauties for this batch.
I tried to use some really unique styles for this batch. I know that one certain style has become a trademark of mine, which consists of (usually) a black and white image with a red streak at the bottom or top, with some light text. I used that technique two times in this batch. But I've also added some new design ideas to my criteria, such as some brand spanking new coloring (I used this in Home and TFWID/Gillian photoshoot...how do you like it?), and some new kinds of borders which I've never used before. I'd love to hear your opinions - good and bad - regarding these icons. I live off of constructive criticism; in fact, without it, I probably wouldn't be making icons at all.
For my Darkness Falls batch, I decided to play with the title and make all the icons black and white. I thought it was kind of neat, since this icon has been iconed quite a bit before, I wanted to make it as unique as possible. Same with Pusher; I really tried to add my own designs to that batch.
Please don't ask for tutorials in this batch. I'll give you pointers and a brief explanation of how I made an icon, but I've become to realize that tutorials are how people end up copying each other. I want to make my own unique icons. If I make a coloring/design tutorial or something, the next week, the people who followed that tutorial will have similar icons as I do. I don't want that happening, as it's happened a lot in the X-Files community of icons. As FoxEstacado told me, trends come and go in the fine arts world, and you really do have to get used to it. Ah. If you've never talked to her, you should. She's fun and brilliant and I love her. *mucho love hun*

I'm really out of questions to ask everyone to get to know you guys, so um, I'm gonna ramble until I come up with something.
Oh yes! Make sure you all go check out pickmybest. It's basically this icon crit/icontest where you post a batch of icons for people to pick their favorites of that batch. You chose whether you want your icons to be entered in the header or contest or not, which is kind of like an lims contest held at the end of each month. My icons were the last ones remaining, or whatever you want to call it, and are featured as July's header! Isn't that neat? I felt so honored! I still do. *big toothy grin*

and probably some more, but I can't think of them right now. You want to know the sad part? I accidentally wrote "X-Files 2" instead of "X-Men 2" at first. *sniffles* I still believe in the movie, just because the X-Files has always been one to work so mysteriously and with a doubt, if that makes sense. They made you believe every body you once loved on the show was dead at some point in time, you heard *nothing* about FTF and suddenly it's out (well, I mean, no details), we thought Mulder was never coming back but he did, etc. I'm still putting hope in the movie! I'm not dwelling on it, but I am remembering to "never give up on a miracle."
YAY! I have a question. And it's uber lame.
What song currently gets stuck in your head? For me it's - surprisingly - "Hips Don't Lie" by Shakira. Hahah, I HATE that song, but it seems what you hate is what's constantly on your mind. I also love "Unfaithful" by Rihanna and "What's Left of Me" by Nick Lachey.
Speaking of What's Left Of Me, I don't know if anyone's interested, but I made a new FTF vid - it's kind of an angst story using Nick's beautiful song.

I'm a very independent person. Scully reminds me a lot of myself, especially how her independence is played up extremely - sometimes as fanon - in a lot of fanfiction. I hate asking people for help, which I have to do a lot in life, being a poor high school student with not much to go by. I love having a job, so that I can pay for the little things that I need every once in a while. And truth be told, it is nice to have money in my pocket, heh. But to be honest, I never dreamed of the day when I'd be posting a message asking for a co-author. I've asked two people that I trust and know pretty well already, and both of them have declined the offer due, mostly, to the fact that real life is a pain in the ass.
I need a co-author who is more dependent then they are independent, can work around the fact that I have most of the story plot-out, and are willing to be patient with me, as I am a very confusing person to work with in anything; my methods are sometimes the strangest.

A lengthy and well-plot out case file
- a complex storyline
Good characterizations
- dialogue, thoughts, actions that are in canon with the show
A decent portrayal of the Mulder/Scully relationship
- friendly, lightly romantic, and humorous behavior that may or may not lead to resolved sexual tension
An overal well-written novel

Things I desire in the premise of the story:
A deep case file pertaining to the Lost Colony of Roanoke
- the 400 year old case itself, the legends evolving from the case, and some original links to a case that Mulder and Scully will be investigating with a team of scientists, historical researchers, and other federal agents
A slightly angsty/romantic portrayal of the Mulder/Scully relationship
- in character, in canon; a sort of an evolved Quagmire/Detour version of Mulder and Scully (see details below in the premise of the story)
"Other Lifetime" themes related to reincarnation
- lifetimes parallel to that of the characters in the story - both original and non-original - based on the themes from The Field Where I Died

The Overall Premise:
The 400 year old case of the Lost Colony of Roanoke returns in the form of a missing persons case. Each of the missing victims turn up dead with the mark of a doe on their torsos. While Scully expects the killings to be ritualistic, Mulder delves into the *Legend of the White Doe. The case eventually leads Mulder and Scully, the MP department, and a group of archeologists to the Island of Roanoke, in hopes of preventing another murder from occuring.
After a traumatic turn of events, Mulder and Scully find themselves alone, with a 400 year old case at hand, as well as a present day one that even Scully can't deny.
There's something strange happening on the island, something that cannot be programmed, categorized, or easily referenced.

I don't care if you've never written a story. I've only written a few light hearted, romantic stories myself, and this is the first time I dare to venture out in the land of casefile novels.

| 4th of july goodies |

Well, I hope you all had a great Fourth of July. I sure did! It's a tradition for my family to go to Duluth and watch the fireworks as they're being shot off over Lake Superior - what a sight! I'm going to share a bit of the beauty with you, but let me warn you, photos do not do it justice at all.
First of all, I have two sets of photos I took during the fireworks. I've selected 14 of my favorites, even though I took about 145, because fireworks are extremely hard to capture. The first image thumbnail links to a high resolution photo, and you may use it for a light texture or stock image if you would like to, with credit to either the_grimmerie or xxjaybabyxx. The second image is the same photo, but in lower resolution, so that you can use it for your viewing convenience and enjoyment.

Well, I am now officially addicted to High School Musical. I'm in the process of iconing the movie, and I only have the very beginning done, so I'm assuming that I'll have the entire thing done in two-three more batches. Soooo you know, you could always *friend* this icon journal if you'd want updates on that. ;)

I promised a few people certain episodes to icon, and unfortunately I didn't get to all of them this time, so by next time I should have a few more of those down.

Kay, so I really liked interacting with you guys last time, talking about other things besides my icons. So I have a question for everyone again.
What inspires you in life?
For me, I have a lot of inspirations, and all these different inspirations inspire me to do different things. Like, for instance, looking at really well done icons inspires me to make icons! Reading fanfic/watching an episode of the X-Files inspires me to write fanfic. And then, of course, music inspires me for *everything*. It is my main inspiration in life. Well, besides God. I'm a very religious person, so God inspires me to do just about anything. :P
Also, a really random question.
Are any of you half-vegetarians?
See, I'll eat chicken and sometimes turkey, but I can't touch any red meat or pork. I will literally throw up if I have to eat it. So I call myself a semi-vegetarian.

A small, obscure episoded themed batch. Yeah, you may ask - why GitM? Well, I think it's a neat, nostalgy episode that has a LOT of a great caps. If you're an icon maker, you'll agree with me. But anyways, this batch pretty much sucks is not that good, besides a few beauties that may pop out, so please forgive me. Michelle is the reason I'm posting these.
